St Giles Church, along with the School, the Village Hall, local businesses and clubs is an integral part of the community. Without the Church, part of the glue that holds this community together would be lost.
Since its foundation in the 13th Century, St Giles has relied on the goodwill of the Community for its upkeep and this continues to be the case in modern times. Support can take many forms and GIVING time, skills, ideas and/or money will make a real difference. The cost of running and maintaining St Giles has to come primarily from local volunteers, donations and fund raising. There is no secret source of income. Any practical help or financial support, therefore, will make a difference whether it is assisting with maintenance, putting a few pence in the offertory box, making a one-off or a regular donation, supporting fund raising events or remembering the Church in a Will.
If you would like to support the continuing upkeep of St. Giles Church to ensure it remains an integral part of the Community, please consider the options below - no matter how small or irregular your GIFT is, it will be appreciated and put to good use.
Should you wish to offer practical assistance, your skills or talents this can be provided by:
- Cleaning
- Flower Arranging
- Mowing and outside maintenance
- Providing Transport
- Bell Ringing
- Assisting with Fund Raising activities
If you would like to support St Giles in any of the above activities then please let us know by completing this form and we will be in contact with you as soon as possible.
If you would like to support St Giles in a monetary way, there are several methods you could consider:
- If you are planning to visit St Giles to attend one of the Services, you may wish to place your contribution on the offertory plate. If you are a tax payer, using one of the white envelopes provided in your pew will gift aid your donation (see below for details of gift aid).
- Likewise, should you be visiting at some other time, you can deposit your donation in the Church’s Offertory Box which is situated just inside the main entrance on the right hand side. Using a white envelope as above if you wish to gift aid.
- If you would like to make a more regular commitment – a Standing Order is the easiest method. Please note that you can cancel or amend a Standing Order at any time, if your circumstances change.
- We also have an envelope scheme for those who would prefer this method and envelopes can be accessed through the PCC Treasurer.
- When making a Will, should you wish St Giles to benefit, this can be arranged through your Solicitor. Leaving just 1% of your estate to St Giles can make a significant difference.
Gift Aid – If you are a tax payer, you can make every £1 you give worth £1.25 by filling in a Gift Aid Declaration.
Higher rate taxpayers who declare their donations to HMRC can get a tax rebate as they can reclaim the difference between the higher 40% rate of tax and the basic rate of 20% - a total of 20%. So, if £1 were donated, the gross donation would be £1.25 and the donor can claim 25p back. Thus if you Gift Aid £1, the PCC will get £1.25 and it will cost you only 75p.
You can also nominate a charity to receive your rebate. HMRC will pass the repayment direct to the charity. St Giles’s code for this is XN41626.
Please note that all information about donations is strictly confidential.
